December News

Wow it’s been a busy old session this term.  It seems only five minutes since September and now Christmas is upon us!  This term we have had many successful sessions,  the two really successful workshops with Chechelele and Ali Bullivent as well as a performance for Amnesty.  Now we are looking forward on to 2016.

We have next term’s programme up and ready, enclosed at the end of this newsletter.  Look out for the Wassail early next term and put the date in the diary (Sunday Jan 10th).  It has become a bit of a tradition to partake of the blessing of the orchard for a good harvest.

Next term, Paula and Charles will be leading a session as well as our regular leaders Ilina and Jack.  The group decided that we would have one guest leader per half term so that Jack and Ilina could have more time develop our repertoire.  Let’s have your thoughts and any feedback on that.  As we have received funding from both Comic Relief and James Reckitt foundation to develop our programme we will send out the dreaded questionnaire at some point – but after the Christmas mayhem (celebrations!)  Any thoughts in the meantime gratefully received.

Enough about next term, we still have celebrating to do.  Next session will be with Stan Kell. Stan is great fun and a complete contrast to our other leaders. Then there are two other events of note.  Thursday December 17th is our final session with Jack and a bit of a knees up.  We usually bring a small contribution (food or drink) to share.  There is usually plenty so don’t feel you have to.  You are the main contributors.  Maybe we will then manage the German words to Silent Night.

The following Sunday 20th December,  we are visiting two residential homes to sing Christmas Carols starting 2pm at Westdene, 19a Alliance Ave, HU3 6QU then 3pm Rossmore, Sunny Bank HU3 1LQ.  You are all welcome at Cath’s house 12.30 for bacon butties or vegetarian alternative.  We will be singing traditional carols with no particular arrangement as the idea is to sing familiar tunes that the residents will recognise and join in with.  If you haven’t been to Cath’s before ask for a map as it isn’t easy to find!!

We seem to go from strength to strength. Numbers are continuing to rise.  Lorraine has joined the committee as a co-opted member. Welcome Lorraine. Please let any of us know your wishes, feedback, requests or criticisms.

Have a great Christmas and New Year

See you all Thursday

Cath, on behalf of Val, Debbie, Ros, Rosie, Sue, Jill and Lorraine.
